Pirates/Cardinals Series Wrap

Well the Pirates had their chance to even out their record at 20-20, but failed to do so in a nothing short of strange loss to the Cardinals. The whole game can really be defined in that one Rick Ankiel 2nd inning catch. The Cardinals played a decent game, but they just got all the luck (not saying that Ankiel's catch was lucky). The Cards scored 2 of those 5 runs as a result of bloop and infield singles, which they collected a lot of. Paul Maholm did throw the ball pretty well, just got every bad break in the books. Todd Wellemeyer pitched phenomenally and got the win. The Pirates scratched out one run off the Cardinals' bullpen and lost the game 5-1. I am happy to say that the Pirates rebounded today and earned an impressive win, by the score of 11-5. The Pirates fell behind 5-1 midway through the game, but then scored 10 unanswered runs. Jason Bay's pinch hit 3-run shot broke the 5-5 tie and won the game for the Pirates. The bullpen pitched outstandingly and John Grabow grabbed another win. The Pirates are now 20-21 and fly to Chicago for a 3 game set. The Pirates will send Tom Gorzelanny to the mound tomorrow to attempt to bring the Pirates to 21-21. Let's Go Bucs!
