Pirates vs. Cardinals
The Pirates played an outstanding game last night. They took a lead of 2-0 in the 4th off of McLouth's two-run homer. The Cardinals got 3 on a Troy Glaus 3-run job that BARELY made it out. The Pirates kept battling and Jason Bay and Ronny Paulino tied the game on back to back doubles, then they scored another on Jose Bautista's single, as he practically dug one out of the dirt. Pujols homered in the 8th inning and the game headed for extras after pitcher Marino Salas squeaked out a scoreless 9th. The Pirates scored 4 runs in the 10th inning as Ronny Paulino singled 1 in, and LaRoche doubled in 3. LaRoche has been red hot as of late, and this is an incredibly good sign. The downside of this game is that Ryan Doumit suffered a broken thumb and is "out indefinitely". Doumit will be on the 15-day DL within the next couple of days. Ronny Paulino has played very well in limited time this year, so let's hope he can keep that up. I am curious to see who the Pirates call up from AAA to fill the void left my Doumit. I'm sure it'd have to be a catcher, because no team goes an extended period of time with only 1 catcher on the roster, right? Hey, Craig Wilson plays catcher.
