OOOPS

Well of course, like everything else I do, I have become sluggish with this blog. Not that many people read it anyway, but it was fun for awhile. Maybe I'll get back into it sometime ha. Anyways the Pirates have won 4 in a row, and we're now only 3 games away from .500. I went to the game yesterday [box seats] and was very pleased. Snell pitched great, the bullpen did alright, despite the one run, and Freddy is really coming around. If Freddy can start hitting like he normally does, along with the addition of Laroche's mid season bat, I think the Pirates can be near the top of the hitting statistics all year. They've been great with the bats so far this year, and things only look to continue to go up. It's hard to argue that McLouth and Nady aren't going to continue being great hitters when we're well over a month into the season. The starting pitching definitely still needs some work, but we've definitely been seeing signs of good things. Dumatrait has looked very solid in his first two starts, Maholm has made 2 or 3 remarkable starts, Duke has looked decent all year long, and Snell showed great signs yesterday. The only one who really hasn't showed much is Tom Gorzelanny. Hopefully that will change tonight as he faces the Braves. He missed his last start so maybe the extended rest will help him out. I don't know if he's 100% from his injury, but I'm sure he is considering he probably could have made that last start, but they held him out because of precautions. I expect Tom to be full health and pitch a solid game tonight, helping the Pirates win their 5th straight and draw oh so close to the coveted .500 mark. Also, Jason Michaels is the man. I love that they picked him up. Sure, he's never had a season with over 10 homers and only 1 season batting over .300, but he's a great veteran player and good with the glove. He can definitely benefit the younger guys and provide some good pinch hitting on the regular days, and he's probably a better option than Nyjer Morgan to spell the outfielders, as for now atleast. Look at that AAA outfield now for the Indians, freaking Peace McCutcheon and Nyjer? Talent baby, talent.
